Mad Props To Rustywrench!

Post by Dr. Frankenstein » Thu Aug 05, 2010 11:09 am

I want to say a huge Thank-you to Rustywrench for helping me out with my search for the ever-elusive 1964 CA77E pistons; they are about as hard to find as an honest politician, and he came through for me with a pair I have high hopes will get my bike on the road after a who-knows-how-long hiatus! I still have some bits to find, but those were a big leap forward for me; thank you!

Seriously, it's guys like you who help make this forum such a great resource that it is...

for carbon, i've heard oven cleaner is the ticket to clean that out. for general cleaning I like soda blasting. you don't have to spend a lot for that, HF is your friend there. Otherwise just some solvent etc. and a brush to scrub things. But try the oven cleaner for the carbon buildup. I personally just use a small wire brush on a drill.

Most oven cleaners will attack the aluminum. The rotary wire brush in a drill motor does well on the steel surfaces. Regards, Chase

Thanks for the kind words,John, your twenty bucks will be in tomorrows mail.
I do things like that with a pay it forward principle. It bites me in the ass once in a while but more often than not, it works out well. Ride hard,,,,,,,,,,,,RW

:)

Or Don't Ride At All!

Reminds me of a saying I heard once - "Driving a car is like watching a movie; riding a motorcycle is like being IN the movie."
