Southern CA77 Rat bike videos

Post by clarenceada » Thu Dec 30, 2010 6:37 am

Saw this on Utube and even though I cringe at them destroying Dreams like this you got to laugh at some of the add-ons (esp. the gas tank saddle bags) and what they put these old bikes through (from Ark. to CA. over the Trans-America trail).

I feel better now! My bike would look like it's off the showroom floor if I parked it next to their's. And thats without doing anything to it.

Sasha- Maybe there's some traveling companions for your planned trip. I bet they'd be up for it.

These are some friends of mine and they know how to enjoy themselves and their vintage bikes. They have many other "restored" bikes that are as nice as you will ever see anywhere. We all have vintage bikes because we enjoy them and this takes it to another level. I have laughed till my side hurts with this bunch and enjoying your old bikes and riding them is what the vintage collecting is all about. To me, this just adds a whole new side to riding old bikes. Buck,Are the gas tank saddlebags functional? It would be great if your friends could post a few pics of how they work and how they are attached.

That looks like a really fun group, the duct tape pointer to Calif and the 3 flats story had me rolling!
Buck, if they're ever passing near New Orleans I'd love to meet up.

If I remember correctly the bags are covers on pannier boxes. Most of the group are from eastern Mississippi but the "Critter Bike" club is growing with new bikes and members adding to the group. They are at Mid Ohio every July and also at Barber's in October. The latest bike being built has a western saddle for a seat and a Briggs&Stratton Pull rope starter added to the rotor on the right side. All a bunch of good guys that ride and enjoy these old bikes. Buck
