Which rings for a CA77?

Post by Dr. Frankenstein » Mon Feb 21, 2011 12:47 am

Hi All;

A question concerning piston rings: I have a 1962 and a 1964 CA77 I am trying to find rings for. I have also found four different pistons for those bikes.

My 1964 Dream has what everyone tells me are high-compression pistons - the pistons for THAT Dream has a high dome, and the cylinder head itself has a high combustion chamber, plus the pistons have a a well-defined 'squish' area around the edge. Besides the two I took out of that Dream, I have only ever even SEEN one other...

The '62 Dream has pistons with a more beveled look, and the combustion chamber looks shallower.

The pistons themselves measure 60.5mm; 'Standard' pistons, I assume...I don't think the cyliders have been bored out...

Any parts fiche I have looked up has different numbers for the Standard pistons and rings.

The ring numbers are: 13010-266-000
13030-266-000
13040-266-000

Which one is correct for which piston/model? The more beveled-edge pistons appear to be more available than the high-compression ones; can I use THOSE in the '64?

Thanks!

John
