"HONDA" seat logo color

Post by conbs » Tue Mar 08, 2011 2:14 pm

'64 Dream. I have what I think is the original seat which has no logo. I searched the site and found bronze as the correct color for the HONDA logo for a CB77, but could find nothing specific to a Dream.
Bill Silver resto CD is silent on it as well.

1. Did the original Dream seat have a logo on the back?

2. If so, what is the correct color?

Interested in the same info for a '65 CL77 if anyone knows.

Early seat logo

Post by conbs » Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:26 pm

Thanks for the help, guys.

My bike had a seat on it when I got it in the early 70's and I had thought it was original for '64. No logo. No trim.

I just looked at the '73 parts catalog and it lists an early dual seat for CA77 10001 to CA77 20902 which should be '61 and '62 (though Bill Silver's resto CD shows '62 production stopped at 20851. Hmmmm.). '63 production went to 6 digit frame numbers. No seat number listed for '60 bikes.

When I got my bike, the guy also had another bike that apparently was a '60. The motor from the '60 is currently on my '64 Dream and I also have the tank. I wonder if I have the seat, too?

Anybody have or seen an original seat from a '60 - '62 Dream? Logo? Trim?

I bought another seat on Ebay to get the trim and will recover it with a black cover with white logo. Still, I am curious about the seat I thought was the original.

'60 seat

Post by conbs » Sun Mar 13, 2011 2:36 pm

Thanks for the picture. That is a very cool bike.

My seat must be after market or recovered. I haven't taken the cover off, but it seems like the pad underneath is a little smaller as well. Not as tall nor as wide.

I looked at the '68 parts book and it list the '60 bikes' frame numbers as using the '61-'62 seat as well, so it looks like there were just the 2 dual seats (in different colors).

Is the only difference that there was no logo on the early seats?

Seat Logo!

Post by ROBM50 » Fri Mar 18, 2011 12:50 am

I have a 1966 white Dream with the original seat and the lettering is definitely not white. It looks to be a faded gold and I've seen pics of other orignal Dream bikes with the logos having that same color which I believe to be correct....Rob
