Anyone here interested in respoking wheels for money?Anyone here interested in respoking wheels for money?I have polished all parts except for wheel parts. I simply to not know how to respoke and true wheels. Moreover, there isn't a place for miles and miles that can. I would love to polish up my hubs, ets and get new spokes added. I am more than willing to pay...............for decent price. If anyone knows who can.please feel free to let me know. Thanks for your consideration. I will pay shipping both ways.
I think you would be surprised how easy it is to do yourself. If you start with a rim that's true and have the correct OEM spokes, there's really no magic to it. There's also a lot of info on this site and elsewhere. I built a "truing stand" out of wood that is really only two v-blocks to hold the axle. Get all the spokes in the right holes and snug down all the nipples evenly and you will probably be close. I put anti-sieze on the spoke threads and the nipples where they contact the rim. Spin the wheel and gauge the lateral (side-to-side) wobble and the out-of-round measured where the edge of the tire bead sits. If you're out by more than about 1/16" you can selectively tighten some spokes more than others to bring it in. If you're really out, you may have to loosen some and tighten on the other side. You have to get them all tight enough to "ping" not "thud" when you're done. The rim may have some local imperfections like a little dent or a weld that obviously will not true out and don't really matter.
Or just send it to someone like you said in the first place! -48 I had actually considered trying it but im afraid ill get it in a mess and wont have anyone to fix my mess ups.................then i would get irratated and sell the bike out of frustration.................i enjoy it to much to do that. Next question.......are the spokes on ebay any good? I have a 61 Honda Dream by the way.
