frame numbersframe numbersnumbers on the frame doesn't match the numbers on the title.
frame numbers is ca77-10213 and the title is ca77A10213 what is the a stand for? does anybody have a letter in between the numbers. Frame numberstimothy,
Your numbers don't make sense The "A" apparently stands for American. The Dream exports to the US only included an "A" in the frame and engine numbers. Graham ended up with an "American" bike across the pond. Kind of weird that the CB's and CL's didn't have such a designation. I don't think the C77-A10xxx bikes were a forerunner to the CA77 as Graham has put it. I think they were the first 305 wet sump Dreams and were built in 1960 with the "A" just put in a different location that year. The Honda documentation indicates that, but I won't swear I am correct on this. There weren't very many Dreams imported into the US that year. If you look at your engine number (if it is original) it will be C77E-A10xxx. Please confirm that you are sure you have your frame number right. If it is a 1960, it seems like it should be C77-A10213. No matter what, the title you have is funky. It shouldn't have 2 "A"'s in the frame number, It appears to be a mistake that may have been there since it was sold by the original dealer. Does your bike have the early tank and luggage supports?
Graham's bike is what Honda calls a CA77 model, but - for 1960 only - denotes with a 5-digit serial, preceeded by an "A" ...and so, G-man's bike is, as he indicates - a 1960 Dream.
Timothy has a 1961 CA77 Dream frame (5 digits, no prefix), fitted with a matching numbers 1961 CA77 Motor (6 digits, no prefix). The same type of motor serial number could be found in a 1964 Type I CA77 Dream, but with T's bike, it is clear that we have a factory set, in esense - frame number 213 with the 218 motor number. Clear as day. A matching numbers, 1961 Dream. Nice find! Timothy, please enter your bike into the Honda305 Dream Registry !!! ...and please upload a photo! -- Michael Stoic honda305.com/registry
