Hi Guys,
Last minute inspiration. My dad and I have ridden Harley's together up till a few years ago when Pop decided it was time to quit - got nervous on bikes. Good for him. Tomorrow he's turning 75. Today I picked up this Honda Dream to surprise him with for his Birthday. It was his first motorcycle when he was in his 20's. a good little bike to run around town with which I know he can handle. I hope he's touched.
To my question: it's a 65 c77 which looks (and I was told) is all original except for the new white walls and solo seat. The bike was well taken care of and it shows. I was also told that the headlight bulb was burned out (it doesn't shine) and I just discovered the brake light (while lit) doesn't increase in brightness when I apply the front of rear brake. Also, the speedo isn't working but the cable(cracked from age on the rubber housing) is intact. To correct these problems, without first ordering new parts, what should I check?
Thanks.
Just got a 65 Dream
The headlights are pretty pricey. You can get new ones with replacement bulbs for about the same as an original type bulb. Generally around give or take $100. (Search the site, it will turn up)
I did my own for around $5. If not the bulb in the back (which obviously is the first thing I would check) look on the left under the cover. You'll see a spring type plunger that engages when you brake that operates the brake light (or at least that is how my 63 works) Make sure it is connected and operating. I think there is a how to on here somewhere on rebuilding the speedo.
