Just brought home a CA77 - PicJust brought home a CA77 - PicI've just bought a basket case CA77. The engine # is CA77E 103372 and the frame # is CA78 103276. I'm told it's a 1961, but can't be sure. I'm hoping the guides and manuals I ordered from the site will help me understand the numbering system, perhaps one of you could decipher it for me.
The engine turns freely, but the side cases covers are off. The stator and the clutch have been removed. The seller also bought it in its present condition and just never got around to doing any thing with it. He was told that the last owner started to strip the engine down to deal with an issue with 2nd gear. Initially, I think that I want to put it back together just to see what's missing and get it running just to get a better idea about what it needs. Afterward, I'll decide what I want to do with it. At this point, I'm not thinking about a full-blown restoration, but more of a revitalization so that it can be a daily around-town driver. Beside getting the motor back in, it'll need side covers, a battery, a bunch of small parts and it looks as if some of the wiring is missing. Here it is, I hope it was worth the $225 I paid for it:
Re: Just brought home a CA77 - PicIt's a 1964. HT

Re: Just brought home a CA77 - PicThanks LM, I appreciate it. Wonder why the previous owners thought it was a '61 and registered it that way? I'm gonna have trouble getting a title….
Re: Just brought home a CA77 - PicJust use the title you have and know there was/is a mistake. .......lm
