chrome side covers?

Post by natedog4g » Fri Mar 27, 2015 9:58 am

hello to a new forum!, I just picked up a 1962 dream ca77 and was wondering if you could tell me if the covers that cover the battery and coil came in chrome as an option. all the pics I see online they are painted the body color and mine are chrome. I was just wondering if someone had them chromed along the way? the bikes serial number indicates it to be a 1961, bike is totally complete and original besides tires and the missing airpump, the chrome covers are aged like the rest of the bike so it just has me wondering. thanks

The side covers should be painted in the body colour. Chroming the side covers was a popular mod in the sixties.

nate...........welcome to the forum..........early CA77s are something to find in complete dress. Quite a few of these bikes were used as parade units.........especially by the Shrinners. Post a pic when you get a chance...........and tell us what you plan to do with the bike.

In the oldest-in-the-US Honda shop that I've mentioned before, the owner has a beautiful trophy CA77 in the window with hard bags, chrome side cover, chrome front fender and some other interesting modifications. He told me that they were factory options that could be purchased when coming off the line.

Oh wait, I found a picture on my phone of it!

Man that bike has a lot of cool options, but I gotta say, I never saw a Honda teapot before.
