plug

Post by Woodsie » Tue Apr 28, 2015 11:12 pm

should this plug on the right hand side of the gearbox come out. being a plug it should. obviously somebody else has wailed on it and it does not come out with normal effort. I just wanted to ask if it is normal to be this tight. Before I wail on it. Thanks. Woodsie

The one with the slot in it? Do not remove it. It is the clutch adjuster. You loosen the bolt with 10mm head and then you can adjust the freeplay.

Some cases don't even have the black plug.

The Big Black plug is just rubber, if it's hardened over the years it'll be tough as hell to take off without tearing it apart.

It's a sight hole for adjusting the clutch cable and clutch. The big Flat Head screwdriver part below it raises the clutch adjustment knurl thing and only really be seen through that hole. There's no oil in that right side case, you can unscrew it very easily and take the whole cover off to get that plug out if need be.

Thanks for the replies. I was not very clear was I. I was refering to the aluminum plug with the large screw driver slot. I was thinking that behind it was the clutch adjustment, but apparently not. I will leave it alone.

That plug is the clutch adjustment. If you loosen the 10mm head bolt you can rotate the slotted plug.
