What year did metal tank badges replace the plastic ones ......?

The bikes came with the plastic tank badges. The metal ones were supplied as after issue for the parts counter after the supply of plastic ones ended. Most likely due to cost savings. No idea for the year the metal ones came available at the parts counter.

FWIW, please don't double post the same question in two different areas at the same time.
