CA78 Kick Start removal

Anyone on here have any tips on how to remove the kick starter so I can get the side cover off the motor? I don't see a pin or anything else on it that holds it in place.

I presume it is the same as the CA77. The kick starter has a splined shaft that engages a receptacle on the side of the transmission.

Just hold the kick starter in place and pull the side cover straight off. Watch for the 5/16" diameter ball to fall out of the clutch mechanism - it sits between the push rod and the part on the cover that rotates.

So when putting it back together what is the process fro putting the ball back in?

That bearing fits inside the steel part which the cable moves when pulled by the handle bar lever.
Put lots of grease in the steel part.
Look at your parts page and you can see the assembly. ...............lm
