Greetings all...
Jason here from Virginia Beach and I am soon to be a new owner of an early (titled 1964) Honda Dream 305.
This will be be my very first motorcycle and I have been working on wrapping up my purchase for the past few days. But the other day I found myself with a bit of cold feet. Being that I am about to spend more money in one blow than I am used to, I decided to (once again) cruise the local dealerships to see if there was a more modern/reliable/practical option. After visiting a few dealerships I was starting to ponder the CTX700, CBR250R or even the HOnda Metropolitan scooter as alternatives to the Dream.
Still a bit confused and uneasy, I ended the day with a visit to the local Harley Davidson dealer. And as i was eyeballing the Sportster 48, Frank, a cool-cat gent wearing a similar drivers cap as mine asked me if I was looking for anything in particular. After Frank showed me a couple bikes and we chatted about what's available in their used lot I finally fessed up to him that I was on the final leg to purchasing a 305 Dream. It was then that I saw a genuine smile grow on his face as he said "nice! - I have one of those! Very cool bike".
Next thing I knew we were back at his desk with him showing me pictures of his bike. He then pulls out his phone to show me pictures of a custom Dream that he painted for a fellow in Canada while he was still a resident there. Low and behold, the bike that he was showing me was forum member Sascha's blue "Bush League" bike! And the funny thing is I was just reading up on Sascha's build the day before! What are the chances!!!
But the stars continued to align after we both stood up from his desk and I was just about to
head on out. It was then that he yelled out a greeting to a couple of guys walking in the door. He was obviously good buddies with these two guys and he called them over and said "you guys need to meet this guy". It turns out that the one gentleman was a shop owner just a few miles away from my house and he specializes in old Honda's!
After a few minutes of chit chat and laughter I finally excused myself. As We all exchanged hand shakes and business cards Frank told me to come on back when I get the bike assuring me that I have new friends that are here to help.
Needless to say, I'm glad I went Harley shopping and my cold feet are no longer cold.

New ad slogan: "You meet the nicest people on a Honda at a Harley dealership". It truly is a small world and even smaller when classic Hondas are the conversation piece. When you ride the Dream, get used to strangers flagging you down to admire your bike and share stories. It seems like just about everyone you'll talk to had one, knew someone who had one, or even better, knows where there is an old Honda languishing in a barn or garage.
