Looking for help determining year

Post by Bigvin » Thu Mar 02, 2017 1:32 am

Hello there,

I recently purchased a 1961 Dream 305 at auction. Frame stamp is C7-A1047, engine stamp is C77E-A10150

I just picked up the bike today and I'm a bit confused how to determine what it is. The bike has tall chrome bars, not stamped.

Thank you for any help. I'm searching through the site and trying to get up to speed as fast as possible.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum!

The C77-A preceded the CA77. This was made in 1960 before yours was titled......

I have C77-A10268 same style - tall bars etc.

Ok excellent, so the bike is really a 1960 then. Interesting info. I made a typo with the engine stamp. Is should have been ended with 10147.

I'm assuming that would be the original engine it came with since the numbers are very close?

I'm sorry if this question has been answered 1000 times. I'm just very excited to get some more info.

Cheers!

Yes engine & frame numbers are close enough to be a match.

Can you put your location in your profile, please? You never know who might be nearby.

My location is now updated.

Is there any info at all about production numbers of bikes built in 1960?

What sort of information do you need? The page I posted gives numbers for beginning and end of each model year. Subtract one from the other and you get the numbers built......

Sorry G-Man,

I'm just looking for clarification with my bikes serial number, with the sequence that begins with A10001.

Question:
Were bikes imported and sold to the US part of the regular production run and had the "A" added to their serial number, or were they a special production run. eg; would my bike be the 147th C77 made in 1960 or the 147th bike made for export to the US..?

Cheers!
