Running rich??

Post by casamere » Fri Mar 03, 2017 12:57 pm

Way back in December I asked you guys for some advice as to why my Ca77 was running rich and the plugs were black, also it would quickly flood just after initial start up which meant taking out the plugs to dry off or replace.
Although I had some very informative solutions from members I came to the conclusion the problem must lay with the carb.
I eventually found the time over the last week to take the carb off and take a look.
Well, I am pleased to announce I found the problem in that the float was set for a CB77 at 22.5mm.
On swiftly adjusting the float height to what the manual says it should be for a CA77 26.5mm.
And re installing the carb I was somewhat hesitant to press the start button.
Gave the gas time to reach the carb so here goes..... Fired up beautiful and kept running until it was warm enough to set the tickover.
Now I'm happy and waiting for a sunny day to road test..... Brilliant!!!.

We at times go crazy over the symptom you had and when we find the fault it is usually a simple adjustment which when found was assumed to be OK.
Good to know things are good now. ...................lm

I had the exact same problem I caused myself by setting the level to the wrong spec!

Very frustrating!

Glad you got it sorted.

I made my own "float gauge" out of cereal box cardboard when I set my float.

I have just asked this question on VJMC UK/ International LOUD MOUSE and the majority so far sat NOT measurement is from the face as shown. This would make a good 2mm difference.
