Newbie from England on here

Post by pertheswede » Sun Aug 13, 2017 6:28 pm

Hi folks, I'm a Swede living in England, United Kingdom and I have just bought a Dream but not sure exactly what model I have got. The US title dates it as a 1962 model but not sure if a 305cc or not? The frame number is CA72-20138 so what have a I got here? See photo below also ;-)

Also is it supposed to have the engine top end painted black or? I am also a bit confused about the tank shape as this differs from most other Dream photos I have seen on the internet??

Any help would be much appreciated!? ;-)

Hi,

By the frame number given you have a 1962 CA72 250 Dream. The tank appears to be the correct CA72 tank for the year. The top end was not originally black. Check your engine number stamped on the left side top of the case close to the oil cap. The oil filter cover on the left side engine cover appears to be plain with no script, which would be correct for a 1962 engine.

Welcome along!

Looks like it has "Buco" or "Bates" dealer-supplied saddlebags (panniers, to us Brits).

This is my '62 C72 Dream. Currently in 100s of pieces....

Different 'bars but pretty much the same....

Your's has been custom-painted at some time with the seat re-upholstered to match. Standard colours were red, blue, black or white. The engine should be natural aluminium.

I think it may have been white originally as the "gold" paintwork is not the best and lots of white is now grinning through! :-/
