CA77 Stator cover screws

Post by casamere » Thu Nov 08, 2018 2:50 pm

In need of replacing the 3 screws that hold the stator cover m5 x 15. I ordered up some oval head screws that arrived today and although they do the job the head of the screw is slightly smaller that the original.
Does anyone have a link where I can get some.
Thanks.

Casamere,

Presuming it is a CB72/CB77, the part number is 93700-05016

David Silver Spares have some.

Thank you sir, it's actually the CA77 but they appear the correct size. Will check with DS first then order 3.
Thanks again.

Be wary of the thread pitch. 5 mm screws from before the switch to ISO (also called New JIS by Honda) had a different pitch than the current ones do. I purchased a set from DSS thinking that because they said they would be useful, they would be. They weren't. My solution was to run the right die up them to produce screws with two threads. I wouldn't do that if strength were an issue but for the cover it seems a reasonable kludge.

Hi Tim, I have already fitted m5 screws with .08 pitch so the ones I have ordered should be ok but will post when they arrive. Cheers

Quick update guys, received screws this morning from David Silver spares and after a polish fitted them no problem. The slightly larger head on these against an ordinary m5 makes them sit better in the recess.

I'm confused now. Are the screws currently offered by DSS the old JIS 0.9 pitch or the modern ISO 0.8 pitch?
