Engine paint, grease gun, etc

Post by highrock » Wed Aug 23, 2023 2:36 pm

I'm in the process of reassembling a CA77 that I started on about 10yrs ago. Time and a couple of moves has made finding my parts and figuring out what's the proper combination of parts a challenge.

Anyway, I have some questions..

The trim on the rear fender that the shocks mount to... is it supposed to be polished, painted, or left natural? Forum search led me to one post which seems to indicate "natural". My parts bike has polished and the one I'm restoring had painted.

What's the correct front drive sprocket? I have a 14T and a 16T. (Answered: 16T )

What holds the airbox cover in place? I don't see anything in the parts diagrams, and my parts bike didn't have anything holding it closed.

Is there a grease gun for the little fittings on the cables?

Is there an advantage to the right hand cover with clutch cable going straight in vertically closer to the front versus the cover with it going it towards the rear at an angle?

Is there a source for the bits that hold the rear of the gas tank? I need bolts, rubber pucks, washer.. (rubber puck is 17614-259-000 but I'm not finding it in stock)

Believe it or not, an ordinary automotive grease gun will work quite well. However, buying a grease gun and cartridge is probably overkill as your heirs will likely end up with a grease gun in great condition along with a 90% full cartridge. Commonly people use a pressurised can of grease which you press onto the fitting.
