Just picked up this little gal for $100 yesterday.

Not bad, eh? She's been sitting since 1984, the year I was born.
Seller was a junk man, couldn't tell me much except that he thought it was a 1963.
Vin (from motor, is there one on the frame?) is CA77E 402520.

So what exactly did I buy?

I'm cleaning out the fuel system as we speak.

About to order my usual list of things to get going:
points + condenser,
air filter,
battery (6v or 12v?)
petcock kit
carb kit
plugs and wires

Is there anything else particular to these gals that I should just go ahead and throw in the cart?

Blood, nice purchase and welcome. Looks like it might be a 64. The reason I'm saying this is because the VIN number has six numbers and begins with a 4. That usually indicates the year. There is another number on the lower left side of the frame. The battery is a 12v. Looks like you're on the right track with the items you're purchasing. You might want to get a Bill Silvers manual as well. Lots of great information available. Have a great time with it.

Nice one man!
Just wanna mention, the points cover screws look rusty. Don't throw them away for new ones! They are special screws with JIS threads. Just clean them up with chrome polish. Also, I'd recomend updating the old selenium rectifier (orange thing) with a new radio shack bridge type. Improves charging capabilities. And one last thing, your mufflers look good except for some rust. If both your mufflers are in good shape all the way around, think about getting them rechromed. It won't be real cheap but nice oem mufflers are super ideal! Real replacements are like $800 or $900! Good find!

I can't afford to throw things away, but I do have a strong habit of replacing fasteners (especially Japanese phillips).
I sure do appreciate you mentioning something about JIS threads. Never heard of that one. Any other peculiarities I should know?

Rectifier - did that once on a cb350 years ago. Was it a single bridge?
I can't really recall exactly or do I know what it does. Does anyone have a link or the part # and a wiring schematic?

My electrical is a mess. Wires twisted together, connections melting on each other. I'm going to have to spend quite a bit of time on the whole thing.
I guess that's good; electrical is definitely my least favorite subject and a job like this might turn me around.

Mufflers are pretty far gone.

Lastly, where are you guys getting parts from? I've found honest prices at olypen.com - are they good people?

What part of Upstate NY are you from? I just finished up on a '63 in a red dress. The rectifier change up is well addressed here on the forum. Is the engine locked up or free?

What's the best (CHEAP) shop manual?
I've seen 2 on ebay, one has a nice graphic of a couple riding and the other just some green and blue rectangles.

Last one for the night, is there any difference between a C77 and a CA77?
