She lives!

Post by Susan » Sun Jul 10, 2011 7:57 pm

So after two and a half years, I finally got to ride the CA77.

I popped in here from time to time for some advice, thanks very much to all who helped. While I was able to get most everything working pretty much properly, it was thanks to a really talented mechanic who looked the whole thing over and picked up on all of the small details that my untrained eye didn't catch. And why I was having the devil of a time getting my carb adjusted? One of the jets had been damaged in cleaning. I'm not sure if it was like that when I got it or if I did it myself, but I had checked and rechecked it so many times I thought I was losing a bit of my mind!

It's not much of a photo, but here's the start of the test ride. It was quite a distance home and she really rode beautifully. Not the prettiest girl on the block, but if she runs solidly I'll be a happy camper. I haven't commuted to work (20+ miles, mostly parkways, against traffic) via two wheels in ages, but as soon as I get it inspected and tagged all will be good for that.

There's no video, but I bet there will be as soon as I get out riding with some friends. My buddies have been teasing me for....years now....that they haven't ever seen me riding the thing.

Now to tackle the Serveta that's been in pieces for at least four years (I don't want to count!)

Wow. It only took years, but I'm on the road, and went through DMV hell on Tuesday.

Rode the Dream to work today. It's about 30 minutes, against traffic, mostly parkways.

Amazingly delightful. yeah.

So I'm not the only one. I bought an 82 Nighthawk 750 to ride until my Dream is roadworthy. Congratulations to you Susan. :)
