Well as much as I love it I need something more practical. As some of you may know I just finished my restoration but I'm thinking I will sell it. I set out to restore it and keep it forever but this bike is not all that practical for Montana riding conditions. I have friends who live all over the western part of the state and I'd love to hop on a bike and go see some country, unfortunately this is not the bike for that. I've done some searches on this site about what a restoration would sell for. I came up with between $4000 and $4500 for a nice totally restored Dream. Also found that original asking price was around $600 which comes out to around $4400 in today's value. But it seems the market is pretty tough for those trying to sell right now. So I guess if anyone has any input on what a fair asking price for my Dream would be, it would be appreciated. I'm not trying to sell my bike here, just wanting to get a good idea about what it's worth. Overhauled engine, everything's powder coated, new tires and tubes new solo seat plus original seat. I'll post a pic. I reset the odometer for the overhauled engine, shows 78 miles right now.
Thanks for your help,
Jethro
What asking price would be fair?

I see them going for about 3500 to 4000 here in California. I have no idea how long it takes for them to sell though. I do have to ask though, how fast does your bike go? I am afraid I will run into the same situation once my bike is finished. Although, I usually ride passenger on long trips with my hubby. I just putter around here and there on my own and occasionally cruise over to the next town or so on the back roads. I really need this bike to do 60/65 mph. My 150 scoots at 45/50. So I was hoping that my 305 will be able to do at least 60. I wish you luck on your next adventure.
I have not pushed mine too hard at all yet. But it seems to accelerate really well and I'm sure it wouldn't have trouble accomplishing the speed advertised as new once the engine's broke in. I had another CA77 that I've had up to about 65 or 70 on the flats. It probably would have done better if I tucked it. Seems I've read somewhere here a while back that someone had their Dream up to about 90 or 100 tucking on a downhill slope. Tough anything faster than 65 or 70 on a Dream is getting a bit uncomfortable for me. Are you rebuilding your engine?

mine does 60mph easily however to me it just seems like to many rpms compared to my other bikes. The dream only being a 4 speed and all. Thats a nice looking dream. If it had original pipes it would bring good money. Where did you get the tires?
Id say your at a fair price between 3-4k. Its really nice looking.

Thanks for the input. That sounds like a fair price. And thanks for the compliment on the Dream.
I agree about the revs too. It just seems too fast for that engine.
These are the tires.

I put portawalls on too.

Jethro, yes we completely rebuilt the motor. I have a CA95 too, and that is the problem with that little 150. It FEELS like it needs another gear. I am just looking to tour around on the back roads. When we go anywhere that requires freeways or higher speeds, we take my hubby's RoadKing. He is thinking that after this bike is done he might just have to break down and buy me a sporty. Who knows what the future will bring. I just love the old school bikes. That brings me to the new Royal Enfields. YESSS Im aware they are made in INDIA lol. My husband has told me they are junk, but I LOVE the old school style of the classic bullet with the idea of modern technology. However, with a mere 500cc, im sure it won't be much better than my 305! Any thoughts???
And Jethro, that is a gorgeous bike. You did a great job on it. You shouldnt have a problem selling it. I have all kinds of friends wanting my little 150 when my 305 is finished. In a perfect world we could all have a HUGE garage and lots of toys!!!! I would have a vintage BMW R6 series, a Harley Hummer 165cc, a Honda Dream, a Honda black Bomber, a BULLET, a Nightster, oh the list goes on and on and on lol.
