Hi All;
The pics in the manual for the 1964 CA77 engine shows the location of two of the engine block knock-pins; I have 4 pins each. Where is the location of the other two pins? Do they go around the two front-outside long bolts that holds the head together?
Thanks;
John
Knock Pins
Re: Knock PinsI'm not sure which ones ya have.
2 go at the R/L side of the case and bottom of the cylinder. 2 go at the R/L corners of the head and cylinder. (plus "O" ring) Ya may want ta be sure the ones at the head/cylinder are not to long as the engine will leak there if they are to long. .........lm
Thanks LM; that's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure before I start closing it up. I didn't know about the o-ring, though, thanks...
For the ones at the head/cylinder, should those pins fit INSIDE the O-ring, or do they go ON it? As it is right now, the pins look like they will fit loosley inside the holes, and I'm afraid they will slide down the channel... And what do you mean by 'too long'? The pins are all the same length, right?
The ones at the head/cylinder fit snug in the holes.
The "O" ring fits around the pin and is flattened when the head is installed. Too long means the pins Must Not Hold the Head away from the cylinder as oil will leak at that location. There are 2 different sizes of pins for the 2 locations.............lm
