Original material for handlebar mount turn signals in '65
I'm having to put turn signals on my '65 Dream to meet WA code. There were originally no signals on the bike. I've seen the reproductions from Thailand, and have bought a few parts from the seller--mufflers and a locking gas cap. The quality of the parts I've bought is good, but I don't trust these plastic turn signals. Were the originals plastic? I've always assumed they were aluminum.

I don't know how good these are, but they look pretty nice and period correct, I've been thinking of doing it myself on my '63. Check his store for other things, like the early Dream battery. Ebay item 320825282826. They're also available at Charlies Place in SF but different style.
I'd like to know what others are doing, especially for the switch.
Update-I just searched here some more, and this has been discussed quite a bit, member "conbs" had a good post and mentioned the same seller. I don't think I've seen any of the original ones from the later Dreams, so I don't know what they looked like back then.

C; "as required by WA code". please explain where you are getting this. my understanding of the law in our state is that if your machine was not originally equipped with signals, then they are not required now. has something changed? I have had plenty of conversations with the men in blue about regs around here as I ride vintage quite a bit here.

Maybe you know more than I do. I just went according to RCW 46.37.070
(2) After January 1, 1960, every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer and pole trailer shall be equipped with electric turn signal lamps meeting the requirements of RCW 46.37.200(2), except that passenger cars, trailers, semitrailers, pole trailers, and trucks less than eighty inches in width, manufactured or assembled prior to January 1, 1953, need not be equipped with electric turn signal lamps.
Overall, it gets confusing. I've found legal sites that say that if it didn't originally have them, it doesn't need them. I've found others that say that WA requires turn signals on all motorcycles.
For me, it's about more than just the law. I think the more drivers know what you're up to, the less likely they are to cut you off. I don't feel comfortable on a bike that doesn't have turn signals.
