Honda Dream 1966

Post by Jester » Tue Jun 27, 2006 3:46 pm

Hello
As a proud new owner of a 1966 Dream 305, I just wanted to say hello!
It's a light restoration project, as the bike is *mostly* in one piece, kicks over and starts nicely.

Nice bike!

Interesting how someone has "sporterized" the front and rear fenders, I've never seen that done before.

Here is my own project:

Looks like you and I have the same sort off aftermarket mufflers, except yours are in better shape than mine! I'd also love to have your carb covers

;)

I'know, I was wondering if the fenders were modified, or stock..
Every other 305 I've seen has a full rear fender(which looks nicer IMO).

I started tinkering with mine yesterday and realised thet the clutch is most propably gone on it...

Also, what the hell is up with all those ignition key possitions??? there is I think 5 different possitions!

On key switch positions here is info from MrHonda (Bill Silver):

1) Position to the left of OFF is crank position (electric starter only, no ignition)
2) OFF-Key in/out no power
3) Position to the right of OFF is IGNITION/horn/brake light
4) Next position is HEADLIGHT/Taillight/instrument lights
5) Last position is Tail light ON (only), Key can be removed.

A few things are missing or are not stock on your bike.

Missing horn.
Rear fender shortened and taillight moved
Front fender cut front and rear
non stock throttle control
non stock pipes
non stock badges
upper and lower chain guard missing
non stock handlebars

Not trying to downgrade your bike in any way it just nice to know so when you talk to others you can tell then that it might not be a stock piece you are having problems with.

I just got done with my CA77 and a few things on mine are not stock also. Handlebars, mufflers, mirrors, and probably a few others.

Hey thanks HoHonda, that actually clarifies a few things.

Where should the horn button be??

The starter button is actually in exact spot I'd expect horn button.

Since you have non-standard handlebars which could have come from any number of bikes there's no way to say where the horn button would be on those bars.
