So I come in at the last second with a bid on some Dream stuff on ebay and get outbid, meaning someone else had a higher max bid already in place. Fair enough. But then, a minute later, I get a "Second Chance Offer" from the seller. This feels a little like the seller was shill bidding against me to get the bids up. Is that common? Never had that happen before and I've been around ebay for a while.

In order to sell it as a "buyer backed out and I'm offering it to the next highest bidder" scenario, I think he should have waited at least a few hours, no?

I've had the same thing happen a few times, I passed on the deals. On a recent purchase the amount shot up to my maximum bid with me being the only bidder! I bought the item any way because it was still a good deal...........................D

The seller may have had two items as to sell. One sold to the first high bidder and your bid was good enough so he offered you the 2nd item? I'd ask him/her....

You might be right about that. I'll inquire.
