1964 CA77 idle issue

Post by JagerMeisterChief » Sun Apr 01, 2012 11:33 am

Just started working on my new Dream. It is having a hard time idling which I think is because it came from Florida and is now in Utah. The altitude is making her run rich. Any tips on getting the idle to smooth out?

Pull the plugs and figure out if it's running rich before you go messing.

Then if it is, find the mix screw and lean it out until it stutters then turn it the other direction (while counting the number of turns) until it stutters and finally put it half way between those two points.

Yes, more info is needed. Is it actually running rich or does it just seem to be? Has it been running O.K. or has it been sitting and someone just now got it running?

Does it run better when you clean the plugs? What color do they get after running it?

Turns out the Petcock was plugged up. Hardly any flow of fuel to the carb. Cleaned out the petcock and now it runs now but I am going to get a rebuild kit for it.
