Small spring on clutch cable

Post by Londonluke » Sat Aug 23, 2014 7:16 pm

1964 Honda Dream CA95.
Just installed my NOS clutch cable and wondering what the little spring is for?
The original cable did not have a spring, but it had also snapped so the spring could have possibly fallen off at some point.
The bike is running & driving but the clutch cable feels a little sticky when pulled all the way in, you can feel a physical click as its pulled in.
Does anyone have an image of the correct routing for the clutch cable?
Also neutral is hard to find.
Any help would be appreciated.

It shouldn't be making a click noise when the lever is pulled in, maybe you need to adjust it again.

Will try adjusting again.
Really wondering if the small spring is supposed to go somewhere on the lever or at the case?

Luke

Not sure I understand what you are describing. Post a picture and that might help us work out what your problem is.

There is a little return spring that connects to the rotator that the clutch cable connects to under the cover. Perhaps it helps smooth out the release as well as facilitate the return. Also you can twist/ adjust the rotator from memory to affect the amount of purchase it has on pushing the rod through.

I will be working on the bike this week. Once the left cover is off I am sure it will make more sense.
Here is a picture of the spring I referenced previously.
Thanks again.

I believe that spring is for the star type adjusters, part number 53192-205-000, used into 1963 up to frame CA95-3104263. You don't need it for the type of adjusters you have.
