If you take notice at the colors and font of the 305 vs Honda, their is a big difference. I showed this picture to my brother who owns an engraving store to get his perspective. Could it be that an original badge was obtained and the 305 was engraved, from the back of course, into the badge? Just something to think about.

Good discussion...............I will add that a a few years ago a local re-sale dealer and salvage parts seller from Wisconsin (now closed) had a CL250 that had originally been sold in Canada as a 1967 model. All features were same as a '66 CL77 but with turn-signals and the little bumps on the rear fender to mount them. The badges said HONDA 250

Like this one? This is all I have left of a 1965 CL72 I owned in 1969. I framed it and hung it on the wall in my man cave.

I personally think the idea for the term 305 came from the song "409". It just sounds cool and better than 300. JMHO
