Looking to Trade Late CA78 Rear Hub for Early CA77 Rear Hub

Post by hunterst8810 » Sun Mar 29, 2015 6:15 pm

I am looking to trade a late CA78 rear wheel hub for an early CA77 rear wheel hub that I need. I do not need the brake plate or sprocket spindle. Let me know if you have one to trade or perhaps I have a spare part you need that could be traded. But it must be the early model rear wheel hub. Many thanks in advance.

CONBS, the parts manual lists different hubs for front and back wheels with the brake mechanisms for the pre-1964. The obvious (or not so obvious) difference is that the brake cover partially sets into the hub so it is flush. These hub parts are not interchangeable from what I can see. Also, there is a slightly different rear axle collar for the pre-1964 rear hub. I have finally assembled a spare set. Take a look at the call-outs in the shop manual to see the the different part numbers. The only reason for the change that I can figure is that the later designs help to prevent the ingress of dirt, grease, etc. into the hubs. the changes are minor, but enough to prevent interchangeability. All other components are interchangeable.
