Mark, I don't know what web pages you've been looking at, but these will be helpful.

Need a side cover and mufflers for CA77 WTB
Late Side Cover
I wonder if someone who owns a bike that uses the late battery would post a picture of the bottom of their side cover? It would sure help Mark know what he is looking for.
Mark, I looked on ebay a little last night and saw several side covers. Be careful. A lot of times people list parts for these (and similar) bikes without knowing what they have. CA92/95 side covers are different but I saw one listing for side covers that had them listed in the title along with CA72/77. A couple of the sellers from Asia are pretty bad about that. Yep, I learned the hard way.
I remember looking at this a while back. IIRC the side covers changed at different frame numbers so there are a few bikes that would have an early cover on one side and a late cover on the other. Consult your parts manual and study up to make sure you don't buy the wrong cover.

Flute, You Da Man.
Pretty interesting. Your frame number is a '63 CA78 (6 digits beginning with "3"). My parts manual shows the change to the short, fat battery happened with '65 (early '66?) production at CA78 1010862. Do you think it is the original battery tray?

The tray has not been replaced.
It could be I have the smaller battery in the larger tray but this was the size that was in the bike when I got it. I have seen the lager battery and I don't think it would fit.
My wire harness has 1964 on it.
I can say that I have had problems getting the correct parts for 1964 and I am sure that the battery covers changed about that time sure makes it hard to get the correct one.
I hope that the measurements will help and if more are needed I will be glad to get them off my bike.

wrong cover
Hey guys, I'm finally getting around to working on this and I bought a cover from a guy on here and thought it was the correct one, well it is not. The one I bought has a more narrow flap at the bottom of the left side cover and I need the one that has a wide flap. I would really like to get this soon and I'm not having much luck with finding one, even on Ebay. If anyone has a spare or scrap one laying around I would greatly appreciate it. I can pay through paypal. Thank you!
