I think that the craziest thing is that the C77 is also regarded in a lower light than the CB92 which is basically the same design (in miniature with a few frills) with half the power...
When I get some time, I'm going to build a 'spoof' C77 "super sport" like this.

YES! I totally agree! It would be a CB77 in my shop rather than a C77 IF I had been able to find one.

The real ones bring top dollar.
It's a good idea to make sure if you are going to buy one that it isn't a imitation like some that were made and sold in the South a while back. .................lm
