Stupid question here but I looked at the pistons and see that the top is marked with 0.50. The sides are marked ART and CB77.
Does this mean the Pistons are 60.50 mm?

Thanks. That means people have been into this engine before...
Or was it an option on the 67'?

Re: CB77 std piston rings
You will be able to use either issue of STD rings. .....................lm
Merz64cb77 wrote:Thanks LM i really appreciate the info. I read the a thread where you and Jensen along with others were discussing spending $$$$ on pistons and rings and talking about him being a super engineer. I'm on a budget and would love to re-use the existing pistons and rings but will have to see my engine builder for him to take measurements of the bore. I'm hoping I'm within spec to stick with standard rings.
I heard that early engines from start of production to engine number CB77E-111180 used rings with p/n 13010-275-000 but engines from CB77E-111181 like mine used rings p/n 13012-275-000 for the standard bore. Would you happen to know if this is true?

Oh great! Thanks LM much appreciated. Thanks again.
My pistons appear to be 60.50 so I'll look for 2nd over rings 13030-275-000.

cb77 0.50 piston pics
here are some pictures of the 0.50 piston, rings and cylinder bores. One cylinder and piston is worse than the other. would you recommend that I hone the rust off and re-use the existing pistons and just purchase new 0.50 rings or overbore to a 3rd or 4th and buy all new from Tim at Classic honda restoration
