Bike is getting dangerously close but i have no second gear!
Does any one have a good lead for a gearbox/gearbox assembly for my '64 CB77 Superhawk?
Of course I'm also planning to order a new gasket/seal set and clutch plates. I've been really happy with Retrobikes but would be glad to hear of other good sources.
Thanks!

I can't say if the CL72 gear box is identical or not. Perhaps somebody here can tell us for sure. One way or another, if you have what I'm looking for in good condition, I'm interested!prima5star wrote:If a CL72 gear box is the same, or will work for you, I have an extra gear set (or two). Not much $$$ required. I could be persuaded to split the cases on an extra CB77 engine i have too...
Feel free to PM me with price and timeline once we get the details sorted out. Thanks!

The gears are the same but I'd check the angle of the lever on the shift shaft first.
It MUST be at 11:00 because if it's at 12:00 the linkage will not allow the shaft to move the gears enough to get into second. ............lm

I'll be at my shop today and will dig out the gear set and inspect it. It has been wrapped in newspaper for 30 years and I don't know the condition.
Check out LM's suggestion first AND investigate getting the cotter that shims second gear out for engagement.

I'm definitely looking for second gear and the associated damaged one from the pictures above, along with a shift fork if anyone has one available. In lieu of the individual parts, let me know if someone has a complete gearbox in good condition they're willing to part with.
Thanks in advance.
