JIS Screws and bolts??

Post by DianneB » Mon Aug 24, 2015 4:46 pm

Has anyone found a reasonably prices source for JIS fasteners?

I have been searching the Internet but the few I found sell in bulk only.

I know that production shifted from JIS to modified ISO in 1967 but all the screw heads on my '67 Dream are JIS and most of them have been stripped by using Philips screwdrivers - I'd like to replace them all!

I trick I read about (and did) - if you don't have JIS screwdrivers it helps to grind a little of the point off the end of a Philips driver.
Also, sometimes a bit of fine valve grinding paste on the end of the driver will help it grip better and hopefully not cam out.

Whatever package you decide to purchase, try to avoid the screws with threads to the head. Also, do you have the hard to find LONG screw for the upper-left clutch-case cover? Last ones I bought (today) were about $11 each.

Have not tried these myself, but it does look like they include the hard to find 6x115 left side cover screw.

Hey thanks for the information guys!

I really like the idea of a kit! That saves me a lot of time chasing down and ordering individual screws.
