So I have been working on this bike for about a year now but just started doing a lot of work on it recently. I have put the bottom half of the engine together in the last month and the frame parts are at the shop getting powdercoated. I'm going to go with a blue but lighter than the stock blue. It will not have an original look but it won't be too far from original either. I picked it up in Lewistown, Montana which is pretty much in the very center of the state; a dry climate so corrosion was luckily almost nill. The shift shaft splines were gone and it looked like a PO had tried to do some welding on it with no success. So I think that is what ultimately parked this bike. The rest of the engine components showed very little wear except for the pistons. Here is a photo of it before teardown and I will be adding more photos of progress in the next couple of days.
