Graham, that's a REALLY pretty blue! Your bike is going to be stunning.

I flashed on the memory I have of seeing a white Superhawk (and Dream) on the showroom floor of a Honda dealer back in the day. Beautiful, beautiful machines. Somehow, the "Transfomer" look of modern motorcycles just doesn't hold a candle to the visceral, "machine" look of the bikes of our era. Our bikes looked like the machines they were. Modern bikes look like caricatures.

How much I agree. I bought a new motorcycle this summer. After a month long search I settled on a Suzuki 650 Vstrom. It's a really nice bike to ride but the styling is ugly. And the colour, if I can call it that, is light grey on dark grey.

Something else I find interesting is the very subdued brand markings. It has only a couple of small Suzuki 'S' badges on the tank fairing, very easy to miss. Similarly, when I look at other bikes, parked or running, it can be hard to figure out who made them. So many are V-twins with aggressive pointy styling. Give me a Honda 750 from the 70s any day.

Hi Sara

Lovely to have you drop by! This is the color that the bike would have had when some excited person picked it up on 1/1/62.

I'm eager to get it it finished but have been in the US for the last two weeks with a lot more visits to go.

I even managed to pick up a special long rear torque arm bolt which has been on a shelf for 50 years. No use to anyone without a 1961 CB72.

Take a look at the 2017 Triumph Bonneville. Back to visceral......

Graham, oh my GOODNESS!!! Yes, I can see you on one of those! There is hope for classic design, isn't there. The Yamaha SR400 re-release is another flash from the past. It brings hope!

This one is my favorite. The T100 Bonneville. Lower and lighter than the 2016 version.

Reminds me of the blue/white T100T Daytona I had in 1975.

LOL! What's wrong with Nasty Black? I like mine, but I do like the other colors too.
