Your steel sliders are not a matched set, the left and right are unique. Your bike has two left sliders. On a matched pair of steel sliders the axle goes in through the left side and nut on the right. The left slider axle hole is a larger diameter than the right side.

Great find. Who knows what the history of the bike is? Whatever - you have an interesting project. The forks need to be sorted but the rest of the stuff can probably wait. Apologies for the poor pictures but this is the front wheel / hub of one of my CL72 projects, as found.

I think that red is a great color for these bike. So distinctive. I'm going to do one red one and one blue one......
If you're planning to strip the motor you could pick up a CL77 top case and swap the parts over.
Most important thing - have fun! :-)

Not much to add so far this week ..work is beating me up a bunch.
Been pulling parts and trying to get the wiring off the bike to make the repairs I need . taking more pictures for later on.
Looks like I need a front fender bracket piece...not sure what to call it...
and probably a seat pan...might need to learn to mig weld and fix this one
I ordered the books from the web site paypal thingie... and haven't heard anything from anyone...thinking I'm needing to cancel and order differently.
L.M. could you provide you ebay handle so I can see what you have on hand?
Going to Seattle this week end for an Antique Tube Radio swap meet....(my other hobby)
..not going to get much done on the bike..
Wondering about naming my bike..."Hero" keeps sticking in my head for some reason.
Thanks all for reading and and being here.

Those fender braces come up on eBay occasionally and there are two types. An 8-hole version for early bikes and a 6-hole version for later ones.
They are usually eye-wateringly expensive in great condition but you can sometimes get one that has been chopped. The loop is made from 10mm OD tubing so it is possible to re-construct one with a bit of patience and skill.
