I spent some time straightening out the little errors I had on the assembly - OMG, my memory! Reading the "Engrish" in the shop and parts manual is a real challenge, too, and my understanding of the translations aren't always accurate. Anyway - I had a chat with LM, and he clued me in on some other things I may have done wrong, besides what 48 had kindly pointed out. After the conversation, I put the A plate where it was supposed to be, the first plate installed in the clutch basket, with the beveled edge facing in. Yes, the two wires are installed properly. I turned the spring washer on crankshaft around, so that the raised center goes under the retaining nut and not against the oil slinger drive gear. I placed the "clutch lifter" thingie under the pressure plate, long end into the main shaft, and made sure the O ring was inside the shaft (another thing LM advised me on). I put the washer on top of the spring on the drive chain tensioner (thanks, 48!). And, finally, I discovered that I have LOST the "clutch oiler, metal" - the little protruberance that fits into the center of the pressure plate between the case cover and the plate. It may turn up, it may not. Patience.
I need to clean up my workspace. It's in there somewhere.
Oh - my new mufflers and the CA77 header pipe arrived. The mufflers are very nice - not dented, not scraped, no holes, just dirty and in need of TLC. They are FAR nicer than the original mufflers I had on the bike. I am very happy!
The CA77 header pipe is identical, IDENTICAL, to the original headers that were installed on the bike - bend, length, diameter, all the same. The only thing it doesn't have is dents, scrapes and rust. Ha! Another small victory!
