re: title

Post by Mike Mullins » Fri Feb 04, 2011 10:49 pm

Andy : I've been sort of down the same road as Hoosier Tom. Bought a CB 550 years ago with no title, had to do a title search, contacted prev. owner, got duplicate title, had him sign over, etc, etc.
Last 2 times I just used a title service in Las Vegas. I had no qualms about the bikes being legit: they were barn queens of the first order. You get a registration slip from Alabama, and a note from a judge saying that the registration is legal for vehicles manufactured before 1972. Costs about a hundred bucks, as I recall. Its another option, although probably not as good as the procedure Hoosier Tom outlines. They look at you cross-eyed at the BMV, but they're used to me by now.
Let me know when you're coming up I-65 and maybe if it works out, we'll get italian beef from the local meat market and have lunch. Absolutely first class stuff!! ( Hoosier Tom, and anybody else around, you are invited too.)

i hope that after all my effort its not stolen lol...
i posted on the superhawk forum about it here http://www.honda305.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6796 and was told it is a 65. lucky for me, the guy who i got it from (selling for widow of his friend that passed away) works in the same building as our hr guy, who is a notary public, so i get that free as a benefit. i like to buy stuff cheap and then sell it for more, but i doubt the 200 i paid for it will transfer to 5k for the bike haha...im moving to south side of indy probably in june or july, but my closest bmv at present is super helpful "im not supposed to see you sign this, go over there" and tosses me a pen haha...doubt itll be too much tax on it either since i paid 200! what happens if it is stolen? i dont think it is, but will they like impound it right there and im out my money? crossing my fingers haha...

Mike, I'm always ready for a good Sandwich. Might have to stop off at Fagan's Pharmacy and see if Jerry is there!

Tom: Which Jerry-Lil' Jer, or Big Jer ? I used to work for them at the Roselawn store. Both good guys. We should all get together at the Klein Brot Haus in Brookston when the weather warms up. EXCELLENT PLACE TO EAT ! Probably a fairly central place for a lot of people.

Mike, Little Jer- He was a year or two behind me in Rx School. Haven't seen him since 1988. He had a head full of curly hair back then. Probably lost most of it by now, I know I have! Always ready to ride and chow.

Andy, Not a problem. If you don't have access to a printer at home either store them to a flash drive and print them at work or call the license branch to make sure they have them for pick-up if needed.
