We never get too old to learn, but you can't teach some of us anything, anyway! ;)

The bike is looking great. Really nice! Is the neutral light problem the neutral light switch? Have you started it yet?

Hi again! Thanks for the compliment on the bike. Seems like it will never come to an end---I have some glitches that I can't get figured out unfortunately. I have the lights all working except the neutral light--not sure what the issue is but that is of little importance right now as I have a spark issue on the right side---good spark on the left but not on the right. It is sparking at the points when it opens and closes---and this is new points I just got. I need to do some research, maybe a condenser? Or coils? I am not sure. Talked to Ed one night and he tried to walk me thru it but I never did get it fixed.

Oh well, sooner or later this baby may run again.

Ok, ordered a used coil from ebay and that was the culprit. Hooked it up and crossed my fingers and lo and behold, there was spark to both sides. Well another snafu taken care of. Now to move on and get this baby fired up.

Well, almost done. Having troubles with the engine right now. I have spark on both sides and have gas to the cylinders but only have backfires at this point---doesn't even sound like it wants to run. Need to look it over more.

And yes, it is missing a few parts at this point. Don't want to put bottom footrests on until I clear this stuff up.

When you installed your cam chain and supplied your photograph, you didn't show how your points cam was oriented. Your cam sprocket punch marks and stator time marks look ok and your points cam hash mark should have been at the 12 o'clock position. If it was in the 6 o'clock position your engine won't run. Easy enough to check if you are not positive. Was the flat part of your cam sprocket perfectly level and in the same flat plane as the top machined surface of the head when the "T" mark was lined up?

Hi HT,
No, that is not the issue. I was emailing with Ed at the time and also probably talking to him on the phone. I am sure that it was pointing up when the punch mark on the cam was where it needed to be.

Thanks though.

well, another convo with Ed last night and we determined the cam is in the correct position. Everything looks good. I am going to go thru his tuning recipe again and make sure it all looks good there as well. I was not quite understanding it so he explained it a bit more and I have it now.

I guess we will see after all that is taken care of and if the points are accurate.
