Working on My 69, 305 and making some progress. I finally got it running OK but thinking about painting. Has anyone tried to paint without dropping the engine. got a couple of guys comming by to take a look but wanted to know what the rest of you think. great forum. thans for your help

The results are really going to be much better if you seperate. The more refinishing you do in pieces the better your results will be. Depends on how picky you are and how nice you want it.?

For how easy of an engine it is to pull, I would just drop it over a weekend to do a solid job painting it. You'll most likely end up riding it, always wishing you would have as the less than proper paint job would show more and more to you.

Prop the bike on it's center stand, put a lift under, unbolt/unplug the engine and release.
