Billy, it can not be removed without the key, except by breaking it. There's small pin that you can shear off to remove it without the key. A better approach may be to try and find the correct key by getting the numbers off of the front of the lock. Post it here, someone may have the key you need.

yeah im bringing an old thread back to life. SO my issue is slightly different. Lock is in the unlock position yet when I powdercoated the frame I guess some got back in there. Now I cant get the key all the way or turn it. I would like to remove it and soak it but not sure how to go about that. I see above it states you need to have the key to remove it but does that just mean it needs to be in the unlock position?

Thanks,
~james

I believe the key needs to be in it to retract the pins so it can be removed. Just being in the unlocked position isn't enough.

Lock

I removed the lock on two of my 305 dreams that i did not have the keys for by picking the lock. What i did was pick the lock, turned the lock to the right. When the lock can be pushed in, i pulled the lock out and removed it.
