I'm working on getting this motorcycle on the road. I'm trying Deaddog's method of rust removal in the gas tank using electrolysis. I use this method for de-rusting tanks as well. I use an older, 10 amp battery charger that I found at a garge sale for $2.oo. I use large flat pieces of metal, not too lage or they'll ground out on the tank, and clean or change it every hour or so. I also use one wire out of romex from the + side of charger to the piece of metal for better current flow. You'll be pleased with the results, and it cost very little to do!

Here's a shot of the bolt after the first round of electrolysis.

I must say I am very impressed with the results so far. Rinsed out the tank and on to round two. In the meantime I removed my suspect rectifier and am going to have my electrical tech test it because I don't get the electrical stuff :( Here's the little bugger that was probably the reason my battery drained out.

Unfortunately, Radio Shack over here in Canada doesn't have the rectifiers the forum suggests. Neither does my local electronics place. Wierd. Cheers!

Eljeef,

The Radio Shack rectifiers (276-1185) are getting hard to find in Canada, but any bridge rectifier that meets or exceeds the specs (PIV of 50 volts or more, and Forward Current of 25 amps or more) will work just as well.

That's very kind of you. I found out today that my rec is toast. 3 out of 4 of the diodes are shot. I may yet take you up on that. :) Jeff H.

Wilf, would that be adequate for a Dream with all the turn signals? Jeff H.
