I have a 1965 cb77 that I am about to start restoring. I have some questions on how far I should go on stuff like keeping hardware factory, replacing rims and spokes vs. buying wheel assy stuff along those lines. Here goes, the frame and engine numbers match, the engine has a good amount of fins taken out of the jugs, have a spare. So, I will be pulling the head apart to replace all the parts with broken fins. Should I install new rings? Since I have all that apart should I split the case due to fact I have never had the bike operating to a point of checking shifting operations? Will polishing the tappet covers hurt the value? Should the engine transmission side covers be painted or can I strip the and polish? As far as painting frame and tank would powder coating hurt the value? The fenders are freshly chromed and I would like to re-chrome things like the fork sleeves and tank panels, does re-chroming hurt the value? I'm sorry for all the questions at once, there are many more. This is my second super hawk and part of the reason I'm posting. I spent so much time taking things apart on it and reassembling because I didn't do it right the first time, so I want to do it all the proper way this time around. This bike is merely for personal enrichment and something I can be proud of. I am selling it when I'm through because of the '68 cb77 I have as well. Please don't feel you have to answer all the questions and all input will be of much help. So please anyone and everyone anything you have to add. P.S. There will be many more questions!

I like this posting, you mention value several times the value of something is only as good as someone is prepared to pay for example a rare and priceless work of art is no good to me it has no value to me now a mint CB77 now that's my worth something to me.

As we have a lot of people from the USA me I live in the UK you are from it looks like Switzerland all different country's so values will be different.

You ask should you rechrome parts also powder coating and others, a picture posted here would be of great help we would all know what state the bike is in, at the end of the day it is up to you how far you go on restoring a bike.

Here in the UK it cost the same to rebuiled a pair of wheels for a BSA Bantam as it do's for say a Vincent.

One last thing these CB77/CB72 are not cheep to restore well not here a least.

I'm form the US just outside Chicago. I posted a picture of the bike before I disassembled it. The tank, fenders, headlight bucket and side cover will not be used because I have spares that are in much better shape. On the photo of the engine in the right hand corner you can see the broken cooling fins. In the next you can see the good size dent in the muffler, both mufflers are similar. The rims in the next photo I'll be trashing due to the corrosion and a dent in the front rim. I'll also post a picture of my restored to riding condition cb77 with the same chrome fenders and headlight bucket I would like to put on this one.

My apologise ChromeSuperhawk when i see Lake Zurich I instantly thought it was Switzerland, geography was never my strongest subject at school.
