I have restored a 1965 CA77, but in the process I learned the difference between our CA77 and the C77 the rest of the world got. The 'A' in CA77 stood for 'American'. I have found a second CA77 and would like to take out the 'A'. As I currently understand the difference, the fuel tank is the seamless 'turtle' version. That's easy to find. Also, the handlebars are the stamped steel bars, similar to the Cub 50 scooter most of us should remember. These have been harder to find.

If anybody in here has a known source of the C77 stamped steel handlebars, let me know. Otherwise, I'll have to clamp on an aftermarket low rise chrome tube steel selection that mimics the geometry of the correct bars. I'd rather go correct.

The pressed bars don't come up often as even the C77 models changed to the high tubular bars around '63-'64.

I have several pressed-bar C72s that will get rebuilt over the next few years but no spare handlebar parts. Traditionally those pressed bars come with winkers of one variety or another, depending on the country they were intended for.

These were intended for Germany / Finland.



This is the more traditional type the UK got...



In your case, I think that a set of CB72 straight bars would be easier to deal with as you could just transfer the existing controls.

Thx! I suspected as much, just match the stamped steel geometry with 7/8 steel tube bars. That's going to be the easy call. I'd just like feel the bike precisely as it came out of Honda's mind.

I bought this 1960 Dream pretty cheaply but it has a lot of parts missing.

I see what you mean. The stamped bars are there, but you have a lot of missing bits, just on the bar controls alone. Let me know how it progresses, I'll go with chrome steel tube bars that match the geometry. Much easier to find the parts to go on a 7/8" steel tube.
