the confusion here is regarding what Bill Silver says in his engine book about shimming cam covers to get some end play. this seldom works out well. I am with LM on this, just bolt it all up as it was designed and don't worry about it.

I read that around 1995 and tried to follow what was written.
Then I did a head the way I thought it should be done.
All the messing around with BILL'S way and both were the same when I installed the end caps. ................lm
