70 Suzuki 250 Hustler
70 Suzuki 250 HustlerAnyone know anything about these bikes? I have been searching the internet for a long time and cannot find a decent picture of them. I know that the headlight bucket is wrong but have no idea what it is supposed to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jeff

Heres's some pics from a recent ebay sale:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-Suz ... 1c13fb7a08 I wanted one bad when they first came out, they were light and fast. Your pic is the "scrambler " version. May have been the origination of the term "rice rocket". No engine brake took some geting used to though. 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
I don't know about anywhere else, but we called them X-6 Hustler or X-6 Scrambler. They had awesome acceleration and revved like crazy, but the sound was awful (for me at least). They had a six speed gearbox (needed for the narrow powerband of the two stroke), about 28 HP and folks that rode them were always wanting to street race with us Honda riders. I recall going to Milan Dragway in 1967 (or maybe '68) and finally beating one, but only after putting the big bore kit and cams in my 305. I probably had a weight advantage though since I barely weighed 115 pounds way back then; the Army bulked me up to 140 before sending me to Vietnam though :(
Well, I was wrong above, they dropped the name X-6 and called them Hustlers when they went from the T20 to the T250. Here's some data:

Wow, that almost looks like a CB77 clone. I had to do a retake on the first picture to make sure I wasn't missing something.
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. So, is this a good bike? I don't know much about these since I have had Honda's and Yamaha's in the past. I happen to run across this bike because it was my cousins and he wanted to sell it. I thought it was pretty neat looking and ran great since it just had a complete overhaul.
Anyone know where I can get a headlight bucket for this model as well as a few other parts? Thanks again, Jeff I always save a search on ebay and have it send a message to my email when any new parts show up. Takes a while sometimes, but you can usually find what you need eventually.
