Cb160 O Ring Mystery

Post by Jlovvorn » Sat Mar 30, 2013 8:28 pm

Approaching the end of a long winter overhaul, and about to assemble the top end of my 160 (well, 175 now with the oversize pistons).

Looking at the parts list, there is reference to an O ring, item 20 on the cylinder head schematic.

For the life of me, I can't see where this O ring goes, and I don't recall it from the teardown.

There were two o rings on the head gasket on both the cb77 and cb550 I rebuilt. So it seems plausible here.

Can anyone confirm whether the cb160 uses any o rings on the head gasket? Or on the base gasket?

I don't know much, except that leaving a ring out is really bad news when the oil starts moving.

Thanks!

The 160 uses a pair of O-rings in the head gasket joint, just like the bigger twins.
