Allowed it to sit too long without kicking it over, now both pistons frozen at TDC.
Head off, been using liquid wrench, heating/smacking pistons with wood & hammer, have also put a car jack between head cover and pistons, but no joy. Problem is, pistons are frozen at TDC, so using the jack or smacking them is probably not as effective as it would be if the pistons were partially down the bores. Will keep at it for a few more days but the only solution may be to remove the lower case and use the jack to press them out.
Frozen 305 Dream...Frozen 305 Dream...Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always had.
Re: Frozen 305 Dream...Your analysis sounds reasonable. You will likely have to re-bore or re-sleeve the cylinders and replace the pistons and rings. The one thing that comes to mind is that you may bend the cover if you aren't careful with the jack.
Re: Frozen 305 Dream...After a solid week of soaking, heating, drilling, cutting, pounding with a chisel and using a car jack between the cylinder and the head cover I got it apart. Now I have to press off the left-side crank wheel and check the rod/bearing.
I have a spare 305 Superhawk engine if anyone is interested, with carbs and various other bits. I'm also ready to sell the 305 Dream in its disassembled state. All other internal engine parts are in very good shape, frame, wheels, tank, etc. also in good shape. Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always had.
