Struggling

I have a 1967 305 Dream. Here is a picture the day it arrived home. My wife asked if I paid money for it. And then she had the nerve to name it the Rusty Turd.

I got it running pretty well and then I disassembled it to clean the tar-covered motor and do some de-rusting. I got some tires and I reassembled it last weekend so I could finally road test it.

But now I am having one heck of a time getting it running properly. I have done everything that I can think of so now I am turning to the minds of the Forum to help me out.

The problem is that it is very difficult to get it running and when it does it is very rough. Here's what I have done. Plugs, points and condenser are new. Valves and cam chain tensioner adjusted. Took the carburetors off and reset the floats, cleaned all jets. Static timing is right on - .014 gap and test light comes on right on the "F" mark. New plug caps and trimmed the spark plug wires back 1/4". Fresh gas. New YUASA battery, fully charged.

When I do get it running, it may run for 30 seconds to a minute. The one observation that I made and I'm not sure if it is significant - after it runs one of the header pipes is hot and the other is warm. Any thoughts as to why this is occurring. And might it be a symptom of the issue that I am having/

Any input is appreciated. I hate to have to bug the Forum guys but I have run out of ideas.

Pipe temps may point to it only running on one cylinder. Do you still have mufflers on there? If so is it possible that one is completely plugged?

Are you seeing good spark at the plug when you pull the plug and turn the engine over?

run it then pull the plug on the cylinder thats running cold if its wet then its a spark problem if its dry its a fuel supply problem,

You did some of the right things but when the carb was off did you clean out all the small passageways and air jets?

Did you check compression on both sides?

Do you have a spark on both sides after you replaced those parts?

Did you check for critters and wasp nests in the pipes? You could probably use a drain rooting flexible rod to clean them through.
